For competition organisers · in the making

Run your competition, with or without the wifi.

Entries, pools, direct elimination and live results, in a web browser. It keeps working when the sports hall’s internet doesn’t. We’re building it now.

The whole day, from check-in to the final.

  • Entries and check-in

Bring your entries in from a file, tick fencers off as they arrive, and seed from the ranking.

  • Pools

Drawn with clubmates kept apart, fenced in the usual bout order, and every score checked as it’s typed.

  • Direct elimination

Tables of any size, with repêchage or fencing for places when your format calls for them.

  • Live results

Fencers, coaches and parents follow every pool and table on their phones.

Made for the sports hall.

  1. No internet needed

A whole competition runs on one laptop with no connection. The results go up when it comes back.

  2. Many laptops, one competition

The bout committee, the pistes and the results screen share one live copy. Cut off from each other, each keeps working, and they catch up when they meet.

  3. Nothing to install

It’s a web page. Open it on whatever laptops the club has: Windows, Mac or Chromebook.

The rules, done properly.

Pools, tables and rankings follow the FIE’s rules to the letter, and the formats British Fencing’s ranking competitions use: repêchage, more than one round of pools, fencing for places.

Questions organisers ask

Can we use it now?

Not yet. We’re building it, and looking for organisers to try it at a real competition. Tell us about yours and we’ll be in touch as soon as there’s something to run.

What will we need on the day?

A laptop with a web browser. Add more if you want scores typed in at the pistes, or a results screen in the hall.

What happens when the hall’s internet drops?

Nothing stops. Every laptop holds the whole competition and carries on. Live results pause, and catch up when the connection returns.

Will our results count for rankings?

Results come out in the FIE’s own file format, which national ranking systems read, so nobody types them in again.

What will it cost?

Nothing. fency.events will be free for organisers to use.

Running a competition this season?

We’re building fency.events with the people who run competitions. Tell us about yours and what your day needs.
